Small Texas Black Walnut – 1 Quart Raised Dog Bowl Stand – With Bowls

Heirloom quality solid Texas Black Walnut raised dog bowl stand with bowls handmade and handcrafted in my wood shop from my local saw mill.

This beautifully finished walnut stand has been constructed with the utmost care and personal attention to detail. This handcrafted stand will enhance any of your rooms with an elegant or rustic quality that your friends, family, and guests will admire. We have all used various items to both feed and water our pets, but this item is truly one-of-a-kind high end furniture grade item that will enhance the look of any home’s feeding dishes.

WOOD SPECIFICS:
This item is made from solid Texas Black Walnut. No plywood, veneers, or substitute woods are used unless specifically listed. Unless otherwise requested, these items use mostly the heartwood (dark) wood. Greater mixes of sap-wood (blonde) can be requested upon order. The natural dark wood and lighter sap-wood are typical of walnut and add those little touches that veneers or staining can’t duplicate. This is a one-of-a-kind product as no two finished items will be exactly alike due to natural deviations in the wood used.

MATERIALS:
This item is made from solid Texas black walnut, Titebond III waterproof wood glue, super blonde shellac, and satin waterborne polyurethane. All listed materials are non-toxic and FDA approved as food safe.

CONSTRUCTION:
The walnut is from non-dimensional rough lumber milled down to 3/4 inch thickness in my shop. All my wood is stored until the moisture count is less than 10% so that warping and/or cracking won’t occur over time (not for outdoor use). The base construction uses mortise & tenon or loose tenon joinery for the legs and aprons. A special table-top clip system is used to attach the base to the top to ensure that wood movement in the top due to typical environmental changes in humidity don’t allow the wood to crack or loosen over time. The top is glued long-grain to long-grain to ensure a superior, heirloom durable bond.

FINISH:
The finish procedure is 2-3 layers of super blonde shellac to seal the wood from moisture and give it a light ambering color, then 4-8 layers of waterborne satin, furniture grade, polyurethane to make it dog-worthy durable, sanding in-between layers to ensure a perfect finish quality. All my finishes are non-toxic and FDA approved as food safe.

DESIGN:
The dog bowls simply drop into cut-out holes in the stand and are removable. The included bowls are dishwasher safe and made from stainless steel so they won’t rust or discolor over time.
